Synopsis

"Return of the Justice League of America" The emergency alert broadcast from the old headquarters is on the frequency of the old members' signal devices, so it interrupts them unexpectedly while they are in the midst of other activities. Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, Green Arrow and Black Canary are able to answer, although Aquaman, Atom, Hawkman and Hawkwoman don't respond. The quintet arrives at the Sanctuary, just as Gypsy comes out of a hallucination of her past life. She is actually Cindy Reynolds, the twelve-and-a-half-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds, and sister of younger Evan. Her hallucination counteracts the aging effect somehow. Her teammates are near death, and after she fills in the old members of the team, they split up to find the alien, with Gypsy and Black Canary remaining behind to take the stricken to the Medi-Lab. Meanwhile, Zatanna goes to the marina and finally finds her roommate, only to learn that she is a follower of the cult leader Adam, and the sorceress is knocked unconscious. Green Lantern is affected by the aging, as Superman and Batman learn Junior's origin and plan an attack against what they deduce is a telepathic vampire. Batman fills everyone in on his strategy, and Black Canary brings the alien into the open with her sonic power. Green Arrow decoys it to Batman, who feints, and the alien hurtles down an elevator shaft onto a grid of electrical cables, which sends a hundred thousand volts through it. The energy re-leased by the dying creature is relayed through the wires and channeled by Superman into the Medi-Lab, where it revives the aged members. Later, Batman, who has recently left the Outsiders, is invited to rejoin the Justice League as its chairman. He accepts, on a one-year provisionary basis. Meanwhile, Despero reveals his plan to destroy his old enemies, the Justice League, to his followers on Kalanor.
